WHERE PERSONAL TRUTH & CREATIVITY BECOME ONE

I Dream, Nonetheless

This image, used for the poem "I Dream, Nonetheless," is a picture of a dream-catcher held up in front of a sun obscured by clouds.

Today, I dream of a distant past

of things to come that will not last

of days, few and far between

when I am heard and barely seen

Tomorrow, I dream – closer, by far,

yet stand in the distance, the door ajar,

telling myself the way to go

as other paths disappear, fast or slow

Forever, I dream of endless days

when life ceases to cast a haze

on the dream intended to carry me through,

and outlive the nightmare that made me blue

Awakened from a hibernating sleep,

I discovered the dream was not so deep

but a place where hopes went to die

yet instead, I choose to sigh

and I dream, nonetheless, that what will come

is light-years away from a burning sun

casting shadows on all I know,

burning to a crisp what remains aglow
